Tax-Free Childcare
Tax-Free Childcare is a UK government initiative designed to help working parents with the cost of childcare.
Childcare vouchers, as well as directly contracted childcare (childcare your employer arranges with a provider, such as salary sacrifice) have been discontinued by the government. However, if you were enrolled in one of these schemes on or before 4 October 2018, you can continue receiving vouchers to support your childcare costs, as long as you remain with the same employer and they still offer the scheme.
These childcare funding schemes have since been replaced by tax-free childcare, which you can sign up for here.
Please be aware that if you choose to switch to Tax-Free Childcare, you will no longer be eligible for the childcare vouchers or directly contracted schemes, and you won’t be able to return to them.
If you’re unsure of whether to continue with childcare vouchers or switch to tax-free childcare, here is a useful calculator to help you decide.
